This one has been
dumped in the bin,
because it does not
allow the catholic
church to worship
idols and bow down
and kiss the toes of
statues.
In similar fashion, it would be a
problem in Buddism, Hinduism
and many other religions.
Thou shalt love the Lord
thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and
with all thy mind.
I am the LORD thy God, which have brought
thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the
house of bondage.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
I am the LORD your God:
you shall not have
strange Gods before me.
Problem here is that it does not say which
God. It could be any.
It could be happily kept by Hindus, Muslims,
Satanists etc.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven
image, or any likeness of any thing that is in
heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath,
or that is in the water under the earth:
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor
serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a
jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers
upon the children unto the third and fourth
generation of them that hate me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them
that love me, and keep my commandments.
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy
God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him
guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
There is an interesting science called “Epigenetics”
which shows that character traits can be transferred to
the third and fourth generations.
This works in a similar fashion to “Instinct” in animals..
You shall not take
the name of the
LORD your God in vain.
The reference to the power (God) responsible
for metering punsihment has been removed.
This is about WHO has the authority,
God, or the Pope
John confirmed that this was
still a New testament
commandment in
1John 5:21
And Luke did likewise in
Acts 17:29
These commandments are
encompassed by the first of
the set of two (2) because if
you loved God with all your
heart, you would not do them.
If you break one of these, you
have broken “Love God”.
Jesus reinforced this
commandment in
Matthew 4:10
Paul accepted this
commandment as a New
testament commandment in
1Timothy 6:1
