| Is there One single God? or two? or three? If there is more than one, is one of them different in nature? And if more than One, do they both/all have distinct personalities? Did any come later. i.e. were any created or born as we know it? Many believe there is a third person of the Godhead, called The Holy Spirit. Does He exist? If So, is He a He? Is He even a personality? Does He have any powers of His own? If He does exist, why is He not mentioned in the Old Testament? Or is He? Would it surprise you to know that all these answers are provided very clearly in the scriptures? Is this an argument we should be arguing about? Is it of major importance? By the arrogance and determination of some people, it would certainly seem that some do consider it of high importance. One thing of which I am sure, is that while the church is wasting time arguing over this subject, or in fact, any subject, they are failing to perform their given task of spreading the three angels messages, something that God has made an extremely important task. The only church, to my knowledge, that preaches the three angels messages of Revelation 14, is the Seventh Day Adventist Church, so primarily this presentation is for them. These messages, according to the book of Revelation are the most important set of messages for the last days. So, satan smiles and rubs his greasy little paws together when effort is dragged away from these important messages and wasted on arguing. It would seem to be counter productive that those on one side of this argument appear to be very much more militant than the other. This is so obvious that the majority on that side of the issue refuse to sensibly discuss the evidence. Instead, they seem to refuse to even peruse the evidence and provided scriptures, and in many cases even claim that such writings have been modified after the fact. Many of these folk are so militant they block others on social media, banning them from groups simply because of their belief in the "thus saith the Lord" of the scriptures. They even call the SDA church "Babylon", something which the Spirit of Prophecy adamantly rejects. I have not seen this type of attitude since I last spent time trying to reason with those believing in a flat earth. As with those pushing the flat earth theory, these people seem to have the ability to look at a piece of scripture that refutes their argument and see a completely different meaning. These sentiments they display are far from those demonstrated by our Lord and His disciples toward teaching the principles of heaven. I have not said which side of this argument I subscribe to, and will not. I intend to present the evidence from scripture, and those who suddenly put this presentation away, will have admitted to themselves they are not really interested in the truth. I would like to say that this study is not neccessary, but considering that the scriptures are so clear on the subject and yet they are either misunderstood or ignored, then I guess maybe this study is neccessary after all. We understand from the scripture that God keeps nothing in secret that is important to us. Amos 3:7 And even more is disclosed to those that love Jesus. Matthew 13:11 So, if we want to know the truth, the best place to look is in the scriptures. Another thing to consider is that it was the Holy Spirit that gave the information contained in the bible to the prophets. 2Peter 1:21 So what we read about the Holy Spirit in the bible came directly from The Holy Spirit, therefore it should be quite accurate. One of the prime tasks of the Holy Spirit is to teach us "all things" so we have an excellent source for the knowledge we seek. John 14:26 Ellen White makes it clear that the description God gives of Himself contained in scripture is to be studied, and I would add the word "diligently", especially in our time in the last days. The revelation of Himself that God has given in His word is for our study. This we may seek to understand. But beyond this we are not to penetrate. The higher intellect may tax itself until it is wearied out in conjectures regarding the nature of God; but the efforts will be fruitless. This problem has not been given us to solve. No human mind can comprehend God. Let not finite man attempt to interpret Him. Let none indulge in speculation regarding His nature. Here silence is eloquence. The Omniscient One is above discussion. Testimonies for the church vol.8 page 279 In other words, we are to study what the bible says about the character and nature of God, and share it, but we must not add/subtract/modify any such information we receive from the scriptures. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly

| | There are THREE entities, including the one speaking. | | Those who proclaim the third angel's message must put on the whole armour of God, that they may stand boldly at their post, in the face of detraction and falsehood, fighting the good fight of faith, resisting the enemy with the word, "It is written", Keep yourselves where the three great powers of heaven, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, can be your efficacy. These powers work with the one who gives himself unreservedly to God. The strength of heaven is at the command of God's believing ones. The man who takes God as his trust is barricaded by an impregnable wall. The Southern Watchman February 23, 1904, page 122. She also said:- The eternal heavenly dignitaries -- God, and Christ, and the Holy Spirit arming them [the disciples] with more than mortal energy ... would advance with them to the work and convince the world of sin. Manuscript 145, 1901 We are to co-operate with the three highest powers in heaven -- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, and these powers will work through us, making us workers together with God. Special Testimonies Series B, No7, page 51, (1905) Those who are baptised in the threefold name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, at the very entrance of their Christian life, declare publicly that they have forsaken the service of Satan and have become members of the royal family, children of the heavenly King. Testimonies for the Church, 6:91 "He shall not speak of Himself", He said, "He shall glorify me", As Christ came to glorify the Father by the revelation of His infinite love, so the Spirit came to glorify Christ. Letter 213, 1903 ![]() So what do we call them? "The 3 Gods"? "The Trio"? "The Trifecta"? "The Trinity"? What? The term used by the majority of Christians is "The Trinity". This term seems to be the source of argument by many that deny that there are even three. They claim it is catholic and therefore incorrect. If someone asked me "Do you believe in the Trinity?", I would reply "What Trinity?". Let's look at the term "Trinity". Hypothetically speaking, because I realise some of the examples I am about to present are ridiculous, but I am making a point. If there were 3 separate gods that decided to unite, that would be a trinity. If a god married a spirit and had a son, that would be a trinity. If a god split into three to become separate entities, that would be a trinity. There are, most likely, many decriptions that could be called a trinity. The fact is "trinity" means 3 and implies no description of that 3. To deny the Trinity simply because the catholic church has a trinity is not intelligent. Let's get something straight, the catholic church claims to be above the bible, so don't expect much of what they do to comply with biblical narrative.
What I have shown in this web page is what scripture shows and therefore is correct. Whether it agrees with catholicism, or ISLAM, or Jack the ripper, is of no concern to me. I simply want to know what the bible says. ![]() The nature of the Holy Spirit is a mystery. Men cannot explain it, because the Lord has not revealed it to them. Men having fanciful views may bring together passages of scripture and put a human construction on them, but the acceptance of these views will not strengthen the church. Regarding such mysteries, which are too deep for human understanding, silence is golden. Acts of the Apostles page 52 Therefore, we should avoid "fancilful views" and "human construction" when quoting her, or scripture, on the Holy Spirit. She also makes the statement:- The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, in Christ's name. He personifies Christ, yet is a distinct personality. Manuscript Releases vol.20 page 324. She makes it abundantly clear that the Holy Spirit is an individual member of the Godhead. The power of evil had been strengthening for centuries, and the submission of men to this satanic captivity was amazing. Sin could be resisted and overcome only through the mighty agency of the third Person of the Godhead who would come with no modified energy, but in the fullness of divine power. It is the Spirit that makes effectual what has been wrought out by the world's Redeemer. The Desire of Ages page 671 Ellen says there are THREE members of the Godhead and names them. There are three living persons of the heavenly trio; in the name of these three great powers - The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit - those who receive Christ by living faith are baptised, and these powers will co-operate with the obedient subjects of heaven in their efforts to live the new life in Christ. Special Testimonies Series B, No.7, pages 62,63 (1905) She states that the Holy Spirit was not only present when the plan of salvation was worked out, but actually had a constructive part in it. The Godhead was stirred with pity for the race, and the Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit gave themselves to the working out of the plan of redemption. Counsels on Health 222 Ellen says the Holy Spirit is as much a person as God is a person. The Lord says this because He knows it is for our good. He would build a wall around us, to keep us from transgression, so that His blessing and love may be bestowed on us in rich measure. This is the reason we have established a school here. The Lord instructed us that this was the place in which we should locate, and we have had every reason to think that we are in the right place. We have been brought together as a school, and we need to realize that the Holy Spirit, who is as much a person as God is a person, is walking through these grounds, that the Lord God is our keeper, and helper. He hears every word we utter and knows every thought of the mind. Manuscript 66, 1899, 4. (Talk, April 15,1899) Notice that? The Holy Spirit is a person and is walking through the grounds. When the Holy Spirit is allowed to do His work on human hearts, self will be crucified. Letter 270, 1907. Do NOT under any circumstances miss the import of the short statement below. It says so much in a few words. We cannot render to God supreme love and honor if we do not recognize the Holy Spirit. Manuscript 59, 1900. The prince of the power of evil can only be held in check by the power of God in the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit. Special Testimonies, Series A, No.10, page 37. (1897) Ellen White clinches the argument in the paragraph below. The Holy Spirit is a person, for he beareth witness with our spirits that we are the childen of God. When this witness is borne, it carries with it, it's own evidence. At such times we believe and are sure that we are the children of God. The Holy Spirit has a personality else He could not bear witness to our spirits and with our spirits that we are the children of God. He must also be a divine person, else He could not search out the secrets which lie hidden in the mind of God. "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the spirit of God." | | ![]() It is said that the bible can be understood by anyone with a sixth grade education, and I feel this topic needs about the same level of comprehension. That being said, it begs the question: "Why are there so many arguing against the reality of the Holy Spirit existing as the third person of the Godhead?" I have looked at this phenomenon for some time. It is mind boggling that there are so many people with "Anti Trinitarian" views. I have, until recently, been of the opinion that it did not matter which way one believed, because I saw it as being "non salvational". It is the attitude of those arguing against the Holy Spirit that finally changed my mind. The following characteristics are common among the vast majority of those demanding a non-belief in the trinity:
satan has a hand in it. The arch deceiver is working overtime on them. If this is true, and I believe it is, what is his motive? I came across a statement just a few days ago that I think explains it. It is from the pen of a woman that I believe is inspired. If you don't know of her and wish to check her out, read "The Great Controversy", "Desire of Ages", or "Steps to Christ". The statement goes thus:- We cannot render to God supreme love and honor if we do not recognize the Holy Spirit. Manuscript 59, 1900. If that statement is true, and I believe it is, it explains satan's interest in this topic. It also, unfortunately, explains the non Christian attitudes that are prevalent in the anti trinitarian militia. One argument brought forward by this group is that the passage of 1John 5:7 was not in the original writings and was added later. As with all the arguments I have seen brought forward to dispute the personage of the Holy Spirit, this claim is ridiculous and easily refuted. Consider the following:-

| | I think I have put the deceptive claim that 1John 5:7 was "added later" in the dustbin where it belongs. As I mentioned above, the early church fathers quoted this verse in letters to one and other. In the same way these deceived souls twist bible passages and make claims of bible tampering, they also make similar claims on the writings of Ellen White. I have included enough of her statements previously on this page, and have even included original source documents, so I think those claims should have found their way to the dustbin by now also. satan, for a being that is supposed to be intelligent, is not very bright sometimes. For all the effort he has put into his attempts to hide the personality of the Holy Spirit from view, he himself gives evidence that there are three persons in the Godhead. For everything Jesus has, satan has a counterfeit. Of course, those counterfeits always pale in insignificance to Jesus' originals.
But this was enough to expose the arch deceiver for who he is. I hope the jerk understands that by having a fake trinity he has witnessed to the fact that there is a real one. There is probably more evidence I could dig up to assist in this study, but I have no doubt it would also fall on the deaf ears of the deceived, and I am sure there is enough here for the soul that seeketh truth. May the God of the universe pour blessings on the truth seeker, and may the Comforter smile on you until that glorious day when the Son of righteousness arrives. ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
